Over the last two years, many (most) recruiters here in Japan (and globally as well) had to adapt quickly to not only the pandemic and working remotely but a totally new way of doing business.

On the surface, it seemed like it was just the remote working aspect, COVID protocols, etc. but it became much more than that and fast.  It quickly became a 180-degree turn from what most recruiters were comfortable with.  We suddenly went from a comfortable, familiar environment where we could clearly see and achieve our goals, to chaos, uncertainty and a totally different way of doing our core business.  We got separated from the banter, the water cooler chats, the quick coffee to chat about work, etc.  We lost all the little things that made working in our agencies and what being a recruiter meant.

But now, it is much more reliant on individual results and time management, personal branding, and adapting to external changes that are affecting our business on a daily basis instead of a quarterly or annual basis.

“Agencies had to step up to deliver the tools, training and support that recruiters expected and needed to deliver results and keep things moving forward.”

The conversations I’ve had and the stories I’ve heard range from some recruiters quite comfortable where they are and adjusting to the pandemic was not a big deal, to others considering to move out to the countryside and become a 100% remote recruiter, to some even deciding to leave the industry altogether.  Both agencies as a whole and individual recruiters wer affected in varying degrees to the changes over the last 2 years and there will be more unexpected changes to come.  So what platforms and tools are available to support recruiters with banter, tools, insight and options into this crazy market?  And how can agencies leverage their differentiation in this highly competitive and growing recruitment sector?

Look no further; Coffee for Closers is that platform.  A place where recruiters in Japan, at any level, can share insight, give opinions and get ideas to develop their careers (and revenue streams) and a platform where small to medium-sized (and growing) agencies here in Japan can show their differentiation, expertise and opportunities and reach potential talent.

Coffee for Closers is dedicated to putting recruiters in Japan into motion for 2022.  Stay tuned for more great interviews, content, insight and opportunities.
